Atlanta Chamber Music Festival -highly recommend

The ATLANTA CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL is a seven-day residential music festival for middle and high school students of all orchestral instruments, jazz, and piano. ACMF stands out as one of very few festivals in the country with a chamber music focus for pre-college students, boasting an artist-faculty of the highest caliber in the Southeast, world renowned guest artists, thoughtful course offerings, and outstanding performance ensembles. All of this takes place on the historic campus of Emory University in Atlanta, GA, where evening activities include social events, trips to Emory Village, and concerts by our artist-faculty and guest artists. The experiences and connections students make during their inspiring week at ACMF last a lifetime!

UGA Summer Music Camp or Institute University of Georgia

University of Georgia Summer Music Camp is an intensive five-day musical experience that offers students a place to grow musically in a fun and exciting learning environment. Summer Music Campers attend academic classes that address important areas of musicianship. Campers also attend instrument-specific masterclasses under the direction of the acclaimed faculty of UGA's Hugh Hodgson School of Music. Band, orchestra, and chorus students rehearse and perform in the appropriate large ensembles, while piano students focus on performance practice and the standard literature of their instrument. In addition, Summer Music Campers have ample opportunity to socialize, develop relationships with other young musicians, and experience life on a great university campus.  Concentrations include orchestra, band, chorus, piano, and jazz band (HS only). No audition is required for admission. The UGA Summer Music Camp is open to students in grades 6-12.

Mike Block String Camp Vero Beach, Florida

Mike Block String Camp is an annual summer workshop for string players of all ages and backgrounds, focusing on non-Classical traditions and contemporary musical styles, with emphasis on learning by ear, creativity, collaboration, and performance.

Atlanta Suzuki Institute Athens, GA

The Atlanta Suzuki Institute is a summer intensive camp offering Suzuki Method training for students, parents, and teachers.  ASI is committed to creating a nurturing community of musical excellence based on Dr. Suzuki’s ideas that every child can develop their full potential and man is the son of his environment. We seek to provide an immersive educational experience with dynamic, nationally-recognized Suzuki faculty and a dedicated staff. We aspire to foster the character of students, teachers, and families. Suzuki-trained violin, viola, cello, and guitar students from Pre-Twinkle through advanced levels are welcome to participate.  

Chicago Suzuki Institute Chicago, IL

The Student Program is for Suzuki violin, viola, cello, flute, and piano students of any age and at all levels beginning with Pre-twinkle.  A hallmark of the Chicago Suzuki Institute is the depth of teaching experience each faculty member brings to their classes. All core instrumental classes are taught by members of our remarkable faculty of Suzuki specialists from around the world. The student program includes three levels: Pre-Twinkle, Book One and Book Two & Beyond.

Workshops

Jacksonville Cello Workshop

  • The Jacksonville Cello Workshop (JCW), created in 2016 by Dr. Nick Curry, hosted on the beautiful University of North Florida campus, is a 2-day event for cellists of all ages and levels of expertise. UNF’s JCW includes master classes and group classes for all students that attend.

  • The world’s foremost cello teachers (with specializations in teaching young students all the way to teaching students competing in the top international competitions) from around the country are brought in each year to work with cellists from the Jacksonville area and from around the region.

  • Attending this 2-day event allows each student the opportunity to play in two master classes, participate in several group lessons and observe multiple master classes given by all workshop teachers.

  • The 2023 clinicians are Melissa Kraut, Meredith Blecha-Wells, Wesley Baldwin, Avi Friedlander, Mary Beth Bryant, Grace Bahng Gavin, Nick Curry.
