How do lessons go?

Every level I teach includes group classes and recitals. The best motivation for learning cello is to play with others and perform for others. This is our art and we must share it!

  • I want to be sure the cello is secure and comfortable on the cellist. We focus on set up, listening, note reading, joy of playing, performing and playing with others in group classes. The students recreate the activities we did in the lesson at home each day.

  • We gradually add more technique and scales. We focus on being able to shift, do vibrato and continually being tension free in our playing. We do etudes, repertoire, theory and sight reading and playing with others in group classes along with recitals. The students are doing 45 minutes of daily practice.

  • 3 and 4 Octave Scales with the Galamian system, Popper etudes, Concerti, Sonatas, sight-reading and preparing for auditions and solo recitals. The students are doing about an hour or more a day of practice.
